1.
Motion makes it so hard to see me Never stop always feeling so sane React when I cannot afford to sleep And yet I'm drifting so far away Feel i'm washing out My screaming heart rate Has started falling If you work for a living Why do you kill yourself working Relax, there is nothing that cannot wait I need to crush this illusion within me Feel it sliding out Slowing down The needle's falling She said would you stop and just hold me...
2.
Draw Me Out 03:19
Don't really know which way to go These moments always begin With violent shades of red above And village green on your skin Don't really know which way to go, Do you have any idea? Am I talking about you? Am I talking about you? Don't really know which way to go I sit on my own in the sun Tell me there's nothing I cant reveal Do you know what I'm talking about? There's nothing here I can conceal You always draw me out Am I talking about you? Am I talking about you? You come in so vicious Leave me with no fallback I'm always losing control You keep on telling me so I'm always losing control You're bang-on once again Don't really know which way to go...

I went outside With my head held low To wish I was going Back home When I looked high Went searching the sky In time My dark became light
4.
Push To Exit 04:47
You sensed my only weakness from the edge of the world It's as if you know me too well You knew I needed a shove I've been walking for a while Because of you I run From the edge of the world You saw I needed the push I've been walking for a while Because of you I run
5.
Pure Gold 05:30
Gloaming light, the summer swell On a train tonight to see my big-haired girl She's got a new surprise, she says it's nothing I'll forget Before it's in my mind it's already in my head She said it was pure gold Well, I don't feel well All these swells, making me tight as hell Well, I don't feel well All these swells, making me tight as hell She said it was pure gold Of the faces i can see, there's eight I know There's four that call to me, and four that don't I can't seem to say a thing I'm not sure if I'm a human being This head, she said you know it's pure gold Well, I don't feel well All these swells, making me tight as hell Well, I don't feel well All these swells, making me tight as hell She said it was pure gold Pure gold... Gold...

about

Adelaide dark psych 4-piece, The Howling Fog, are proud to announce the release of their new 5-track EP “Drifting”.

The band entered the studio in late 2018 and spent several months recording their sophomore EP with Adelaide legendary engineer, James Balderston, at the controls.

The studio sessions focused on finding the right equipment and recording tricks to capture and compliment the band's swirling, dark, hazy soundscapes: multiple amps and mikes in stereo, and wall to wall effects pedals.

Recording wrapped in March and psych-rock stalwart, Michael Badger (King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, You Am I), was locked in to mix the tracks and added his own creative flair and flourishes. The result is a dense, layered sound that reaches the edge of cacophony.

The first track of the record “The Needle’s Falling” was released as a single in July, and a video to accompany it followed in October. Produced by local film-maker, Tim Carlier, the video is a swirling melange of footage captured during recording sessions, and live at the Grace Emily Hotel in Adelaide.

Singer and guitarist, Peter Blunden, describes the EP, “This record represents the evolution of the band over the last 3 years. We’ve taken our earlier gloomy shoegaze sound and moved it in a grimy psych-rock direction. It’s music for playing over pints of stout and shots of whiskey at 3am.”

Released on December 1st, 2019, “Drifting” is available now on digital, CD and 12” vinyl.
